Crafting with kids and Kazan's Sketch 22 at 2s4y

This week at 2sketches4you, they are celebrating Youth Art Month. They are encouraging you to craft and make a card with your kids. Today, I have my sisters kids and while I was making my card, they had the raid of my scrap pile. The two younger boys didn’t participate, they were too busy playing with the play dough and making a mess in my son’s room…..lol

This first one is made by my little princess who just turned 5 this week……

Here is the one made by my niece Tangie who is 8 years old……

And this one is made by my nephew Kaiden who is 6 years old……

This last one is my card based upon the sketch by the extremely talented Kazan at 2s4y. This sketch was a little bit more difficult for me, again, but I finally came up with the idea for it yesterday….I didn’t get the chance to work on it until today because I went to the awesome ScrapbookUSA Expo in the Salt Lake City area and I didn’t take my scrapbooking supplies with me….I just took my baby and went to shop and visit with some of my online scrapbooking friends. I had to wait until today to get my idea down on paper, so here it is……

Cardstock: Stampin’ Up! Buckaroo Blue, Very Vanilla, Certainly Celery, Chocolate Chip, Barely Banana, Kiwi Kiss….the brown textured cardstock on the owl is Bazzill.
Ink: Stampin’ Up! So Saffron classic ink pad, Chocolate Chip classic ink pad, Garden Green Stampin’ Write marker
Stamps: Stampin’ Up! Owl Together Now set
Misc: Provo Craft Cricut with ZooBalloo and Storybook cartridges, Provo Craft Cuttlebug with embossing folders, Buttons, sewing machine and thread, Stampin’ Up! Certainly Celery twill ribbon, Uni-ball Signo white gel pen, and buttons that I inherited from my grandmother’s stash.
I hope that your weekend is going great!!

Male Birthday Card for CPS 107 Challenge

I am going to complete a few cards today and I will post them as I get them finished. The first one is for the CPS challenge this week. You know what is funny, I actually had all the cuts for this card before the sketch was posted, but I was thinking of putting the stamped image on the other end of the card and I wasn’t liking the way it looked, so I decided to create it based on the sketch and this is what I came up with. This one will also be the card that I exchange for the local card swap I am in….the them for the next swap is male birthday cards. The size of this card is 4” x 9” and it fits perfectly in a legal size envelope. To create the leather look on the Close to Cocoa cardstock, I tore a strip from a 12x12 piece of cardstock, I sprayed it with water and then crumpled it up.

Cardstock: Stampin’ Up! Buckaroo Blue, Close to Cocoa, Very Vanilla, Certainly Celery, and Riding Hood Red
Stamps: Stampin’ Up! Nature Silhouettes and Birthday Greetings
Ink: Stampin’ Up! Close to Cocoa
Embellishments: Stampin’ Up! Twill tape, We R Memory Keepers eyelets and Crop-A-Dile, Joann’s spiral paper clip, Provo Craft Cuttlebug and embossing folder, thread.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!!

We celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in our house, but not the standard way that others do. My older daughter’s birthday falls on March 17th and this year I made her a Barbie cake. We were walking through the grocery store a couple of weeks ago and she spotted one in the bakery…..now she knew that her birthday was getting closer and she asked if I would buy her a cake like that. I took one look at the price and decided that I would attempt to make her one. I have always wanted to try my hand at cake decorating, but I have never had a class. I remember my grandmother making these cakes for me and my female cousins when we had birthdays, but I didn’t know so much time when into them……I totally appreciate the time my grandmother spent on creating these cakes now that I have made one (and spent the majority of my morning creating this cake). I use to watch my grandmother decorate cakes (she use to work for a bakery making wedding cakes) and do all kinds of crafty things. I think that because of her, I have a passion for creating.

Happy Birthday Alisia….My Little Princess!! Sorry I didn't get your Aurora card made, but I hope you liked your Aurora cake. ♥

Two fun cards for caardvarks and CPS challenges....

I just love making cards. They are a little escape for me and I can complete one in a shorter time period than a scrapbook page. Here are two cards that I created based upon two different sketches from CPS. This first one is for the sketch challenge this week it is CPS 106.

Stampin’ Up! products used:
Cardstock: Whisper White, Bashful Blue, So Saffron
Patterned paper: Delicate Dots (Sale-A-Bration)
Stamp sets: Congrats and Polka Dot Punches (both Sale-A-Bration)
Ribbon: So Saffron and Certainly Celery Ribbon Bundle (Sale-A-Bration)
Ink: Bashful Blue and Sahara Sand Classic Ink Pads and Sahara Sand Sampin’ Write marker
Punches: Heart to Heart and Full Heart
(Non SU product used is the “skittles” above the sentiment)

**Sale-A-Bration ends on the last day of March, so be sure to get your order of at least $50 in to qualify for a free product from the Sale-A-Bration brochure….for every $50 in product that you purchase, you qualify for one of the items from the brochure. You can purchase Stampin' Up! from My Demonstrator Website....just click on the SHOP NOW button on the top right of the page HERE.

The second one is for the critters card challenge at caardvarks. I also used one of CPS’s sketches (CPS 104) for it. The sketch was from a couple of weeks ago, but I didn’t get a chance to use it, so I decided to use if for this critter card.

Sweet One - Use it! and 2s4y Bonus Sketch

I used the bonus sketch by Dawne at 2sketches4you for this card. I also found a wonderful challenge blog while I was online last night called Use It! I like the idea of this challenge to help me use the supplies that I have on hand and to look for stuff that I have had for some time, but haven’t used yet. For this challenge, you had to use a favorite paper, something you haven’t used before, some ribbon, and a button. For this card, I used this paper from Making Memories that I have been hoarding for almost 3 years because I didn’t want to cut into it, this stamp set from Stampin’ Up! that I got last year for their Sale-A-Bration promotion, but I haven’t used it before last night, some ribbon from Michaels and this button from a stash that I got from my grandmother.

I created this card for my step-daughter. Her and her husband have had issues with fertility and have gone through IVF without success. They are now in the process of adopting a new baby that will arrive sometime in the next month. They have all the paperwork completed and are now just waiting for the baby to come. I know how excited she is because she has wanted a baby for so long and seeing us having kids and her brother having a baby has probably been hard for her….it was hard for me to see all of my younger siblings having children before I was able to conceive and have a child, so I totally have sympathy for her. I am so excited for her and when she told me that they are just waiting for the baby to come, I decided to make a card for her and I will start a baby afghan for her, too.

A Cute Critter Card - Larua's sketch 21 @ 2s4y

Here is my card this week for 2sketches4you. The uber talented Laura created the sketch this week. I have many ideas for this one and if I can get another card done with this sketch, I will try to get it posted. There is also a bonus sketch from Dawne that I hope to get to, too. I combined the sketch with the caardvarks challenge to use a critter on your card. I love it when I see a sketch or a challenge and I sit down in my scrapbook room and the card just comes to life. It is my escape from the world down in my scrapbook room while I create a card, layout, or alter something. I just went and purged many things from my stash and cleaned my room up. I am still working on some organizing and my room was badly in need of a cleaning, so it feels so nice to sit down in my clean space. If anyone is interested, I will post here and let you know when I list my stuff (mostly retired Stampin’ Up! sets) for sale.

I used vellum for the wings on the little bee……

I finished the inside of this card to match (I rarely do it), but the inside sentiment was screaming for me to do it……hehe……
All Supplies are Stampin’ Up! (with the exception of the thread). I used my Nestabilities for the scallop circle on the front.
Cardstock: Whisper White, Basic Black, Summer Sun, So Saffron
Patterned Paper: Good Morning Sunshine
Stamp set: Just Buzzin’ By
Other: Vellum, ¼ inch grosgrain ribbon in Basic Black and Whisper White, Stampin’ Write markers, Scallop edge punch, uni-ball Signo gel pen, Basic Black ink pad

Verve Sketch challenge

Verve blog is having a sketch challenge today to celebrate the release of some new stamp sets. I don't have any yet, but I have had my eyes on them for a while and these new releases are beautiful. Here is my card based upon the sketch....and just in the nick of time.....

Patterned paper is K&Co and everything else is from Stampin' Up! The stamp set that I used is one of the level 3 hostess sets in the current catalog and it is becoming one of my favorites.

Princess Birthday – Mojo Monday sketch 76

Here is a card that I created for my little girl for her birthday next week (I can't believe that she will be 5 years old!!)…..now I know that she wants a Princess Aurora card, but I bought this stamp set a few months back with the intention to make her birthday card with it, so I guess that I will have to do both. When I saw this sketch at Mojo Monday, during the middle of the week, I knew that I wanted to use it for this card.

Everything (with the exception of the bling) is from Stampin’ Up! The bling came from various sources including Michael’s and Joann’s. I used my Provo Craft Cuttlebug and embossing folder for the embossed turquoise cardstock.

Hello There - Kazan's sketch 21 at 2s4y

Here is the card I made this week for the sketch over at 2sketches4you. The fabulous sketch was done by the amazing Kazan this week. I am really glad that I had a chance today to finish my card because it seems like the weeks are getting away from me and I don’t get as much time to scrap as I wish I could.

All supplies are from Stampin’ Up! with the exception of the button (My Mind’s Eye), the pins (Heidi Grace), and the thread.

Catch'n some Zzz's.......

Here is a layout that I recently completed for the Chillin Winter Challenge on the Apronstrings Yahoo message board. It was a round robin where you had two pieces of cardstock and then picked up two things that were the last to be listed in the previous post and then add two more items that people can add to their layouts and then someone calls that. You could pick up as many as you wanted and I picked up 4 sets of things to add to my layout – distressing & ribbon, stamps & staples, black & patterned paper, chipboard letters & stitching. The patterned paper and cardstock came from one of my Apronstrings Designs kits last year. I used a sketch from Becky Fleck’s Page Maps book for this layout. This page is about my little boy who would just play so hard and get so tired, he would crash anywhere and it is still pretty hard to wake him up when he is sleeping.

Carstock: Bazzill
Patterned paper: Paper Loft
Stamped letters: Stampin’ Up!
Chipboard letters: Creating Keepsakes
Staples and paint: Making Memories
Ghost letter: Heidi Swapp
Ribbon: Misc from my stash jar
Other: Cat’s Eye Fluid Chalk by Ranger, Stampin’ Write marker from Stampin’ Up!, Sewing machine and thread.

I am working on some cards that I hope to have post and share with you this weekend.
