Two cards I submitted for DT call at 2s4y

I love designing cards with the sketches that Laura and Kazan create on 2sketches4you, so I decided to submit cards for their spring design team call last week and here they are....

This first one is based on Kazan's sketch. I used fabric and a pattern in my sewing stash to make these cute flowers.

The second one is based on Laura's sketch....

I hope that your weekend is a great one and don't forget to leave a comment in THIS post for some blog candy that I will be giving away next weekend.

Laura's Sketch 18 at 2s4y and How about some Blog Candy!?!

First, here is my card for Laura's sketch 18 at 2sketches4you.....you can see the sketch HERE. I loved working with this sketch and I have a few other ideas of cards I want to make with it. I also saw on the caardvarks website that they had a challenge using polka dots and so I based the papers (background) on their challenge. I picked up two of these adorable House Mouse stamps (see giveaway below) and these Stampin' Up! papers and wanted to use them on a card and this is what I created.

Cardstock, patterned paper, ribbon, oval punch, scallop edge punch, metal embellishments, sentiment, embossing powder: Stampin' Up!
Stamp: House Mouse
Ink: StazOn
MCPT and Prismacolor pencils
Nestabilities (circle and scallop circle)
thread & sewing machine
glitter glue

Next....

How about some Blog Candy!?!

To celebrate my 10,000 hits on my blog and my 100th post, I bought two of these adorable House Mouse stamps.....one for me and one to give away as blog candy and some fabulous Doodlebug glitter. To enter my giveaway, just post a comment for this post and I will pick a winner on Saturday, February 7th at 5:00pm Mountain time. I will accept all entries from other countries as well as the US. Fun 3-D Perpetual Calendar

Here is a gift idea that I came across while I was browsing online. I made this out of a 12x12 dimensional frame that I found at Michael's. I gave this one to my sister for her birthday, but I also have made similar ones for Christmas gifts (forgot to take pictures of those before I gave them away....OOPS!!). I bought some 12x12 clear calendar pages and put them inside the glass on the frame. The glass makes a wonderful dry erase board. I also gave the receivers a dry erase marker to go along with it. I love how you can add dimensional adhesive to pop elements off the page. I left the green mat empty so that they can put in a picture of their family. (Sorry for the poor pictures....it can be pretty hard to take pictures through glass)......

Patterned paper: Die Cuts With a View
Cardstock: Stampin' Up!
Clear 12x12 calendar: Paper Accents
Flower: Imaginesence
Brad: Bazzill
Dimensional adhesive: EK Success
Die cuts cut with my Cricut Expressions and Home Accents cartridge.

New look and I have been tagged.......

As you can see, there is a new background and header for my blog and if you were visiting yesterday, you might have seen a few other options through my trial and error on getting it posted. I have had Photoshop Elements 6 for over a year now and basically all I have done with the program is edit photos (like red eye and cropping) for my layouts. I had no idea how to use the layers in this program, but playing around with it yesterday has really helped me in learning how to work with them. I decided to try my hand at creating a new header and I had a whole lot of fun. I also decided to do a background that would match it and this is what I have come up with. I will probably keep this one up till Valentines day because it is basically that kind of theme, but I have another one I have been playing with that I will probably use after that. The digital elements for the header and the background came from a free digital kit at The Shabby Princess.

I have also been tagged by ScrappinMaMa at Addicted to Scrapbooking. With this one, I need to go to my computer file where I keep my photos and go to the 6th file folder and post the 6th picture and explain it. So, here is my picture......

This is a picture of my oldest daughter when she was about 4 1/2 months old (she is now 4 years old) while she was playing and laughing in her bouncer.

Now, I need to tag 6 friends.....

I hope that you all have had a great weekend and that you have a blessed week.

imagine

This is a LO with pictures I took of my son while he was sitting at our home computer a year and a half ago. I used a sketch out of Becky Fleck's PageMaps book for this LO. This paper kit was a cookie jar treat (free goodies) from Apronstrings Designs for a challenge I participated in on their yahoo message board over the summer.

Cardstock: Bazzill and Stampin Up
Patterned Paper: Sassafras Lass
Flower: Imaginesence
Metal embellishments: Making Memories
Ink: Fluid Chalk by Ranger
Arrow: American Crafts Thickers
Die cuts with Cricut and Mini Monograms and Making the Grade cartridges

I also just realized that this is my 100th post and I have had over 10,000 hits to my blog. I think I need to make my way to the store for some blog candy.......stay tuned for more information.......

Kreativ-Award for my blog...

I am very thankful for Dawn at Frogaritaville for awarding my blog with this award. She is a frequent visitor of mine and has left a nice message about my blog on hers. With this award, I need to select 5 bloggers that I think do creative work that inspires me and tell why they inspire me.

  1. Tomi - She does some awesome and creative work and it almost seems like it is no effort to her at all to acomplish it.
  2. Lea - I can't believe how many cute cards she posts in a week. They are almost perfect and it would take me several days to do just one.
  3. Enfys - Her cards always are super creative. I just love the ideas she comes up with.
  4. Regan - This gal always has such cute creations posted on her blog. I visit her blog quite frequently to see the newly posted items.
  5. Heidi - I love all the designs that she comes up with for 2sketches4you. She has truly inspired me to become better at my card making and always has such nice things to say about my cards.
Have a happy weekend!!

Kazan's Sketch 18 at 2s4y

I know that I have done many Valentine's cards, but this is the one I want to give to my hubby. I love the red, black, and white combo and I know how much he will love to receive it. I used Kazan's sketch 18 this week at 2sketches4you for this card. When I saw this card, I knew what I wanted to do with it and I am so glad that it turned out as well as I had hoped it would. It would have been done sooner, but we have had company since Monday and I haven't had a chance to escape to my scrap room. Now, I really must make some other kinds of cards for the rest of the year and stop making Valentine's cards, but I just can't help myself.....LOL Ok, I will make other cards from now on.....well, except the ones I make for my kids (maybe I will give you a peek at them, too).

The size of this card is 4x9 and it fits perfectly into one of those business sized envelopes. I haven never done a card this size, but I will for sure do more in the future.

The cut of the two figures comes from my cricut and Going Places cartridge. I love this cartridge and all the things it has on it, but I don't use it very much. I came across SelahCafe's blog the other day and she has done some cute things with the cuts off of this cart and so, I challenged myself to use a cut off of this cart, too.

Cardstock, ribbon, ink, punches: Stampin' Up!
Stamp: Fancy Pants
Rhinestone hearts: Michaels
Title and images cut with Cricut, Going Places, and Base Camp cartridges
Pins and beads: Joann's

Masculine LO of My Wonderful Husband

Here is a LO that I created about my husband. I used the scraps from this LO for the card HERE. This was a LO that I created for a challenge at the Apronstrings Designs yahoo board and most of the product came from one of their kits. The challenge for this one was to create a more masculine LO and to use metal embellishments. I used one of Becky Higgins sketches from her new sketch book for this LO.

Cardstock: Bazzill
Patterned paper: KaiserCraft – Grunge
Metal embellishments: We R Memory Keepers
Silver star: Heidi Swapp
The title was cut with my cricut and the Stamped cartridge.

Thanks for stopping by. =)

Love You Much - Mojo Monday Sketch #68

I haven't had much time over the last few weeks to try out the Mojo Monday sketches, but this week, I had a chance and the sketch was fabulous. I also wanted to try using the clear card card bases that I bought a few months ago from A Sheetload of Cards Short Cuts website....so this is what I came up with.....

I love the look of the white hearts stamped on the clear card base. I used the Staz-On opaque white pad and the heart stamps from the Love You Much set. I also applied Crystal Effects (I love this stuff) to the letters and the small red heart to give a glossy look to them. All except the clear card base is from the Stampin' Up! catalog. The patterned paper, stamps, and heart punch are all a part of the Love You Much bundle that is being offered right now at 20% off. This great deal is only available until the end of the month, so be sure to stop by my Stampin' Up! website to pick up yours before the sale ends.

Kazan's sketch 17 at 2s4y

Here is my card this week for Kazan's sketch 17 at 2sketches4you. I 'need' some more masculine cards for family and friends for their birthdays and I hate trying to make them at the last minute. When I saw this sketch, I didn't immediately know what I was going to do with it, but I had some left over papers from a LO that I did about my DH and this paper was perfect for what I wanted to do with this card. I will post the LO sometime in the next week.....I used one of Becky Higgins sketches for it and it turned out great!!

Three New Layouts for the New Year

Here are a few layouts that I have been working on for the past couple of days. I completed these for the challenge with Apronstrings Designs on their yahoo message board. They have a Chillin Winter Challenge going on there for the next several weeks.

The challenge for this LO was to add 5 circles or rings. I added many more than that with all the brads and such...... I used my cricut to cut out the black circle behind the circle photo and to cut out the title.

On this LO, the challenge was to use a 3-color scheme......

And the challenge for this LO was to use only one photo on a LO....I used my cricut to cut out the "smile" title for this LO

All of these layouts were created with the kits that I got on my monthly auto-ship from Apronstrings Designs. Thanks for stopping by!!

Happy New Year and Laura's Sketch 16 at 2sketches4you

I would like to wish you all a happy, healthy and creative New Year for 2009. I look forward to finding inspiration from all of your upcoming projects in 2009.

Here is the card that I created based on Laura's sketch #16 over at 2sketches4you this week.

When I first saw this sketch, my mind was blank and I had no idea what I was going to do with it. I sat down in my scrapbook room and started looking through my supplies and the card just came together. I really love the way it turned out. Everything on this card is from Stampin' Up! I am trying to get ready for an open house for my Stampin' Up! business and I am trying to create cards with only Stampin' Up! supplies to use for display. The stamp set, papers and punch for the hearts in the bottom right corner of this card are from the "Love You Much" bundle that is available right now at a special 20% off discount. You can go to my Stampin' Up! website, click on Shop Now under the Stampin' Up products on the link bar at the top to purchase this set.
