"Smile" Laura's sketch 20 at 2s4y

Here is my card for Laura’s sketch this week at 2sketches4you. I saw this sketch and struggled for ideas for it. I sat down in my scrapping room today and started a card for my niece when all of a sudden, I had an idea for this card and this is how it ended up. I couldn’t cut off the top of the flower to match the sketch better, so it hangs off the top. I chalked the background of the white cardstock base with my Stampin’ Up! chalks and a template that I picked up ages ago (it makes the look of clouds), but I didn’t know how to use it until I caught a re-run of a scrapbooking show a few months back and I wanted to try it out and I really like how it ended up. It kind of reminds me of a picnic (with the red and white gingham ribbon) and I am so ready for summer to get here.

how sweet it is.....

I just recently completed this layout for a challenge with Apronstrings Designs on their Yahoo message board. The challenge was to make the journaling take center stage, plus I combined it with the year long monthly challenge which is to pick one of three words and journal about it and then to complete a layout by the end of the month with the journaling block that you wrote earlier in the month. The words were red, candy, and Fat Tuesday. I had to pick candy because I love it so much…..especially chocolate (honestly, who doesn’t love chocolate??). I used one of their smaller than a bread box kits for February 2009 for this layout (they still have some left, you can see and/or buy the kits HERE). The only thing I added was the Bazzill Chipboard letters.

Male Thank You card for a card swap....

Last month, I was invited to be a part of a card swap with some of the local scrapbookers here in my little town. We are going to exchange cards every other month and for the first one, we are exchanging male thank you cards. Now, if you have been following my blog, you may know that I kind of struggle with male cards because I have a tendency to put bows and flowers on a card and I really like pinks. I have known for a few weeks that I needed to complete 14 of these cards, but I could only come up with more feminine cards......I have already completed the female thank you card that we will be exchanging in a few months and I have made 14 of them and you can see it HERE. Last week, I was looking through my Stampin' Up! catalog for ideas and I saw this stamp set and ordered it. I knew that I could do a more masculine card with it, plus I wanted to participate in this weeks caardvarks challenge to use Kraft cardstock and so this is what I have come up with.......

I have completed 2 of them, I just need to finish cutting out the stamped images and assemble the remaining 12 cards and I am done.

Sorry for not posting last week, I was kind of in a creative funk. I am so ready for winter to be over and for it to be spring. My first card using a sketch from Card Positioning Systems plus BBTB and caardvarks challenges

Here is a card that I created for my little girl. She wanted me to make her a card with a Disney Princess and I love this image of Ariel, so I used it for her card.....and wouldn't you know, after completing this and giving it to her, she says that she wanted me to do one with Aurora on it.....I guess I should ask her to be more specific next time. I guess for her birthday, I will do an Aurora card. I used CPS 102 for this card. I have used hearts on this card for the caardvarks challenge and this will also be my second entry for the BBTB challenge/contest for a non-red heart.


All of the product, except the Prima flower, stickles, and heart button, is from Stampin' Up! I used my cricut machine and Dreams Come True cartridge to cut out the Ariel image. The scalloped edge is cut with my Fiskars Threading Water punch.

Laura's Sketch 19 at 2s4y and Eye Candy for Blog Candy, BBTB and caardvarks challenge

This is the card that I made from the wonderful sketch that Laura created over at 2sketches4you this week. I made this card for my little boy for Valentine's day. I have also made one for my daughter, but I will have to post pictures of it later because my camera ran out of batteries while I was shooting pictures of this one, so hopefully I can get it posted later today or tomorrow. When I saw the sketch for this card, I knew that I wanted to make it into a gate-fold card. I am also going to enter this into the BBTB challenge to use a non-red heart on a card and the caardvarks challenge this week for the hearts.

Everything on this card is from Stampin' Up! with the exception of the little white heart button which came from my stash of buttons. I cut the heart and the I ♥ you with my cricut and George cartridge. I used my Stampin' Up! markers to color in the image.

Here is a layout that I created from my February kit that I designed for Apronstrings Designs. I have some more to show you, but this is for my Eye Candy for Blog Candy at 2sketches4you this week. This is my loving and wonderful husband Dan doing his thing.....hiking and treasure hunting in the mountains.

Just barely made it.....Mojo Monday sketch 72

I loved this sketch from Mojo Monday and I stayed up late to complete this card. I really like the color combo of pink, brown, and white. I have had this silhouette stamp set from Stampin’ Up! for a while, but I have never used it. I needed to make a couple of birthday cards and when I saw this cupcake paper in the DCWV Sweet Stack that I bought at Joann’s last week, I wanted to use it with this stamp.

Kazan's Sketch 19 and a busy, draining week here....

What a week it has been here!! Our water heater went out and I didn’t know how much I would miss it until I didn’t have it to do laundry, dishes, and baths for the kids. We finally were able to get the plumber to get the part in (in which we had to pay rush shipping on) and he was able to come and install it yesterday. I didn’t want to go the weekend without it and I was about ready to pack up and stay at my mom’s house for the next week. Also, my poor doggy is sick. I am not sure what is wrong with her, but I called the vet and they were just about to leave the office and won’t be back until Monday, and they told me what I can do to help her get feeling better and if she isn’t doing any better by Monday, I need to take her in. I really hope that she is alright. She is almost 8 years old now. I have also been super busy with my design team commitment with Apronstrings Designs and so I haven’t had anything to post to my blog until today. I will be able to reveal my work sometime around the middle of the month.
