A New Mother's Day Card - 2S4Y and JustRite

I am so blessed to have wonderful mothers and grandmothers in my life and I am so glad that I can share how much I love and appreciate them with cards and home made gifts.  I am also glad that they have a day dedicated to show how much we love and appreciate them.  I created this card from Laura's Sketch 50 this week at 2 Sketches 4 You.  This card is also for the JustRite Friday Challenge 015 at the JustRite Stampers Blog.  The challenge is to make a Mother's Day card with one of their flower stamp sets.  I used this fabulous stamped flower from the Beautiful Blossoms Borders & Centers stamp set.

Such A Beautiful Day And A New Caardvarks Challenge

I hope that you are all enjoying as nice of weather as we are!!  I am totally loving the beautiful sunshine and spring temperatures....although it will most likely be raining later this week, I am going to go out and enjoy the day today with my kids in the yard.

Caardvarks has a new challenge up and you can check out the details and what the wonderful prize is  HERE.  The challenge is sponsored by Core'dinations and they were so generous to send the DT some wonderful cardstock stacks to work with.  I created these three cards with them.....

Isn't this Core'dinations cardstock wonderful?!?  I didn't use any patterned papers with these cards....it is all the Core'dinations cardstock, stamps and a few embellishments.  I just loved working with them and it was fun embossing and sanding with it.  The cardstock on the third card was already pre-embossed.....so cool!!

As always, thanks for stopping by and thank you for the fabulous comments!!

Here are the DT samples that I made for the April Smaller Than A Breadbox Kit at Apron Strings Designs this month.  I loved working with these three paper lines (We R Memory Keepers, Little Yellow Bicycle, Sassafras Lass).  Here is a fun little tidbit.....I crocheted the white flowers for all of the Sassafras Lass kits in the Smaller Than A Breadbox Kit.  You can purchase them HERE in MY ETSY STORE.  Did you know that Apron Strings Designs was also sponsoring Ali Edwards' A Week In The Life Giveaway this week??  Apron Strings Designs is also having a challenge and a prize to go along with it on their blog.

On to my design team projects....here are the layouts I completed with this months kit (see the cute little crocheted flower on the first layout....that one is mine and what you can buy in my Etsy shop):

It Seems Only Fitting.......

.....to wish you a happy day.  I hope that your weekend is going as nice as mine is.  I had some fun doing some girly things with my daughters today.  We painted our toenails and fingernails and then watched a fun girl movie.  After my DH and son came home, we made a yummy chicken pizza and we are watching another movie before bed time.  I did have a few moments to sneak in and complete this card today.  I created it from Sketch 50 by Kazan at 2 Sketches 4 You this week.
I bought this Chic Boutique stamp set a few weeks ago from Stampin' Up! and it is quickly becoming one of my favorite sets.  The other two cards I have made with this stamp set are Merci and Happiness.

All products on this card are from Stampin' Up!

I have another card to post tonight based on the new card sketch at Twisted Sketches, so check back in a little bit.

Tonight is also the last night to join the Caardvarks and Clear & Simple Stamps blog hop and challenge.  Be sure to check out all the details at the Caardvarks blog.

Nature's Beauty - Masculine Card

As you scroll through my blog, you may notice one thing that is lacking....I am talking about masculine cards.  I find them hard to do and I don't have a whole lot of product that works well for males.....at least adult males.  I have a brother, a father, and a husband that I make cards for every year and I struggle with ideas.  When I saw Sketch 162 at CPS, I knew instantly that I wanted to make a masculine card from it and I came up with the idea for this card quickly, but finding time to sit down and make it is another struggle.  After the kids went to bed last night, I sat down and created this card.....
Cardstock, stamps, ink, embossing powder: Stampin' Up!
        Brads: Joann's
        Distress inks: Ranger
        Other: cardboard

On this card, I heat embossed the stamped image with Classy Copper on glossy white cardstock.  I masked where I wanted the moon with a scrap piece of paper cut with a circle punch.  I then used a brayer with three different colors of ink (Sage Shadow, Bordering Blue, Night of Navy) over the image to achieve the blending affect (wipe the ink off of the heat embossed image so that you don't smear the ink on places you don't want it).  I removed the mask and then added a little distress ink to the edges of the image.  I layered the image on Whisper White cardstock with distressed edges (scrape with the edge of some scissors), I stamped the sentiment, and then layered that on Night of Navy cardstock with distressed edges.  I cut a piece of cardboard from a thin cardboard box to 5 1/2 x 4 1/2 inches with a craft knife and my large clear ruler on a self healing mat.  I tore the the corners and distressed with distress inks.  I then cut three strips from Sage Shadow cardstock, distressed the edges and inked them.  I added the brads and adhered them to the cardboard.  I adhered the rest of the pieces and put it on an A2 sized card made from Sage Shadow cardstock.

Tomorrow is that last day to participate in the Caardvarks Baby Card Challenge and the blog hop.  You can check it out HERE on my blog and at the Caardvarks blog.

Thanks for visiting....I always enjoy reading your comments.

First Mother's Day Card This Year - 2S4Y

Whoa!!  This is my second post of the day....that hasn't happened for a while.  I was a busy little bee last night and I made two cards and also did some design team work.  I made this Mother's Day card with sketch 49 by Laura this week at 2 Sketches 4 You.  For this card, I heat embossed the flowers with black embossing powder on glossy white cardstock and then I used my ink daubers and colored the image in.
Cardstock, stamps, ink, embossing powder, punches, ribbon: Stampin' Up!
        Buttons: Fancy Pants
Die-cut: Cricut Expressions and Hannah Montana cartridge
        Other: crochet thread

Thanks for stopping by!!  I enjoy reading your comments.

So Happy To Have A Sister Like You

So, I was browsing through blogs the other day and I came upon Brooke Stockman's blog.  She does the Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge with Sankari Wegman and the the challenge this week is the movie Sense and Sensibility.  I was in the middle of reading this book and had to finish reading it, watch the movie, and make a card for this wonderful challenge because I am a Jane Austen fan addict.  I wanted to make this card about sisters because of the relationship between Elinor and Marianne.  It only seems fitting to give this to my younger sister MaryAnn for her birthday.  I used sketch 161 at CPS for this card.

Cardstock, stamps, ink, ribbon, corner rounder, eyelets, embossing powder: Stampin' Up!
Embossing folders: Cuttlebug by Provo Craft

I used the emboss resist technique and a brayer to add the color on the focal point on this card.  I may have to do a tutorial to show you how....it was really quite easy.

I have this posted on the bottom of my left sidebar, but here is my result when I took the which Jane Austen heroine quiz.
