Hope - Twisted Card Sketch #13

I loved designing this card with Twisted Card Sketch #13 this week at Twisted Sketches.  I admit I almost missed it and jumped ahead a couple of weeks and designed the wrong card this time, but I caught myself just before I had to get it done and did the right one.  I will share the other one I started on with Twisted Card Sketch #15. ;)  To check out the Sketch and to play along, click HERE.

The twist this week is flourish and so I used the rhinestone trail behind the butterfly to create my flourish for the twist on the sketch.  To make the butterfly, I cut it out of clear plastic (the clam shell that the Cricut carts come in) with the Serenade and then dyed it with some Tim Holtz alcohol ink to get the colorful clear effect.

        Cardstock: Stampin' Up!
Patterned paper: I am not sure...a small scrap from my stash
        Ink: Tim Holtz alcohol inks
        Rhinestones: Michaels
        Glitter: Stickles
Die-cuts: Cricut with Serenade, Pink Journey, and Accent Essentials carts
Embossing: Cuttlebug with Swiss Dots embossing folder
Other: clear plastic and sewing machine with thread

Forever Friends

How are you all doing??  I hope that your day is as beautiful as ours is here.  I have been working in my own garden as well as spending time in our ward garden getting rid of those pesky weeds.....and I have the blisters to prove it....LOL  Anyway, I did steal a little time away last night to complete this card with Sketch 172 at CPS as well as the Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger.  I was inspired by the colors in the photo and since it was an article of clothing, I used a fun cut from my Cricut Expression and Forever Young cart.

Cardstock, stamp, punches, embossing powder, ribbon: Stampin' Up!
        Patterned paper: DCWV
        Button: Fancy Pants
Die-cut: Cricut Expression with Forever Young cartridge
        Other: Embroidery floss

With it being the first day of summer and it is such a beautiful day, I have a giveaway to celebrate the blessings in my life.  Even though my husband has been out of work, on and off for the past couple of years, and we have struggled financially for a while now, I have soooo many blessings to be thankful for........  I have a loving family, wonderful kids and a strong, adoring husband, we have our health, our faith in God and Jesus Christ, we still have a roof over our heads, we have food to eat, fresh water to drink, clean air to breathe, I have great supportive friends, and there is also YOU, my online friends who I enjoy visiting with for a little bit each week.

Recently, I found a FAB deal I couldn't pass up on TWO Home Decor Cricut cartridges that I want to share with TWO OF YOU!!  I love this cart and I use it all the time like on my Happy Bird-day card and Kindness Comes In Many Forms card.  I will give each cartridge away in two separate drawings.  You have a chance to get one entry into each of the two drawings.....details below......

A Robot Birthday

Here is a quick card I threw together today for a birthday party I am going to.  I used the Robotz cart and my Cricut Expression.  I used the sketch at CPS for this card.  I rotated the sketch 90 degrees clockwise for my card.  I will post more details later when I get home.

Layouts From My Crop Last Weekend

As promised, here are some layouts that I completed at the crop I went to last weekend.  I had so much fun and I still got some layouts completed...the best of both worlds.  I used kits from Apron Strings Designs for these layouts.  Their kits are fabulous and they are also giving away a kit on the Bella Blvd Blog this week as well as some fun challenges on the Apron Strings Designs blog which always includes yummy (and fat free) treats.

Beautiful Birdcages and Paper Roses

Here is my card for the sketch Kazan's Sketch 54 at 2 Sketches 4 You.  I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted to do when I first saw the sketch.  But when I learned how to make some of these beautiful little paper roses from Kathy Orta on Youtube, I thought they would look really pretty on this birdcage cut from Straight From The Nest on my Cricut Expression.  I didn't put a sentiment on the card this time because I am not sure of what occasion I will give it....maybe a birthday or thinking of you card, but I thought it might take away from the focal point and I love it just the way it is without a sentiment on the front.
Cardstock, ribbon, patterned paper, stamp, ink: Stampin' Up!
        Punch: EKSuccess
        Pearl: Creating Keepsakes
        Brad: All My Memories
Other: Birdcage cut with Cricut Expression and Straight From The Nest,
Spellbinders Nestabilities, lace, sewing machine and thread

Thanks for stopping by!!  I hope you have a fabulous weekend!!

Hugs,

Caardvarks and DRS Designs June Challenge

Caardvarks had teamed up with DRS Designs for our next challenge.   The new challenge is to use wet or dry embossing.  For my first card, I did both:

This card uses Silhouette Balloon and All About You Birthday Greeting.  I used my Cuttlebug and Happy Birthday embossing folder for the background.  I stamped the balloons in turquoise and red and then covered them with UTEE (ultra thick embossing enamel) and then heat embossed them to make them shine like real balloons.

One these cards, I used the Silhouette Balloon and Birthday Candle Burst stamps.  On this card, I stamped the balloon images on my cardstock with Versamark and then I applied some clear embossing powder and heated it to make them shiny on my cardstock.

The stamps that they sent me just called for bright and happy colors....perfect for birthday themed cards.  I hope you will come on over and join us for the Caardvarks challenge this month.

Hugs,

Sailing For Father's Day

It looks like it will be a summer like weekend here....finally!!  I am going to do some work in my garden and spend some time outside with the kids.  They just love being outside.....my littlest one has learned how to open doors and unless we lock them behind us, she will escape outside.  I don't blame her....it is beautiful outside and I would be trying to escape to the warm sunshine myself if I didn't have inside chores to take card of first.

Here is the card that I created from sketch 169 at CPS.  I also made a Father's Day card with embossing for the Cuttlebug Spot challenge this week.

I added a little texture to the green part of the sailboat with the Distressed Stripes embossing folder and my Cuttlebug.  I also tore the Core'dinations cardstock in small strips to make a wave effect in the water.  I am totally loving the Core'dinations cardstock right now....so many fun things you can do with it.
        Cardstock: Stampin' Up, Core'dinations, Bazzill
Stamp, Ink, corner punch: Stampin' Up!
        Brads: Making Memories
Die-cuts: Cricut Expression with Life Is A Beach and Doodlecharms carts
Embossing: Cuttlebug with Distressed Stripes (boat) and
Spots and Dots (sun) embossing folders
        Other: jute, embroidery floss

I hope your day is full of sunshine and laughter!!

Fun Flower Thank You Card

I saw a tutorial on Dawn McVey's blog about how to make these paper flowers and I just had to give it a try.  I combined Laura's Sketch 53 at 2 Sketches 4 You with the Fun With Fabric challenge at Moxie Fab World.  I covered some brads with my i-top tool from Imaginisce with fabric and then I sewed the same fabric along the top and bottom of the card.

        Cardstock, punches, stamps: Stampin' Up!
        Brads: Imaginisce i-top
Other: printed paper from an old gardening book,
            sewing machine and thread, fabric

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment.  I enjoy reading them all.
