March Kits with Apron Strings Designs

It almost seems as if spring time isn't going to make it to northern Utah.  We just keep getting stormy, snowy days.....we picked up almost 4 inches at the first of this week.  Thankfully I was able to get my scrapping weekend away with my friends and enjoyed a little shopping for my some goodies to give away in my HUGE giveaway coming at the end of the week.  I looks like I have reached the 1000 follower/subscriber mark over the weekend and so I will get some shots of the goodies and post my giveaway this weekend.  Thanks so much everyone!!

Today, I have a few projects from the March Smaller than a Breadbox from Apron Strings Designs that I haven't shared with you yet.  First up are these projects done with the Animal Crackers line from Imaginisce......

Next is a layout and some cards done with these lovely papers from We R Memory Keepers - Family Keepsakes line:

The kit that I used above is still available at Apron Strings Designs.  You can find it by clicking HERE.  Did you also know that Apron Strings Designs is also celebrating their 6th birthday??  That is quite an accomplishment for a monthly kit club.  There have been lots of fun challenges and discounts going on this month and you can find out all about how you can get a chance win some goodies on the Apron Strings Blog.

Little Boy Layout with Nate's ABC's

Here is my layout that I get to share on the ScrapbookPal blog today......

This layout is of my little man and is done with the Nate's ABC's cartridge.  I just love all the fun images on this cart that can be used for little boys.  I also really love the basic straight lettered font that is also on the cart.  I am thinking that I might do an ABC mini album for my littlest one with the fun A is for, B is for, etc that come on this cart.

To recreate this layout, you will need:
-Cricut Machine
-Nate's ABC's cartridge
-Patterned paper (mine is DCWV)
-Cardstock to match your patterned paper (mine is DCWV)
-White gel pen (mine is a Signo Uni-ball)
-Brads
-Twine
-5 x 7 photo

Let's get started:
  • Use a 12 x 12 piece of patterned paper as your background.
  • Cut a 9 1/2 x 9 1/2 inch piece of colored cardstock.  Cut a 9 x 9 piece of white cardstock and center and adhere it in the middle of the green cardstock.
  • Add your photo to the left side of the layout as show above....be sure to leave the top open (without adhesive) for the tag.
  • Using your Cricut and Nate's ABC's cartridge, cut out a K and "is for kite" along with the kite layer at 2 inches all in colors that match your cardstock. Layer the kite piece to the "is for kite" title piece  Cut out the additional title at 1 inch (optional).
  • Again, using your Cricut and Nate's ABC's cartridge, cut out the car on page 21 of the handbook along with all of the layers in colors that match your cardstock at 2 3/4 inches.  Adhere the layers together.
  • Add doodling to all of your die cut pieces with the Signo Uni-ball gelly roll pen.
  • Cut out a tag with your Cricut.  Many of the cartridges have tags on them.  I used Sweethearts for my tag.  You could also just cut a rectangle with a paper trimmer and then snip off the top two corners of the rectangle to make your own tag.  Secure a piece of twine to the top of the tag and add some journaling before you tuck it behind the picture.
  • You can add some additional elements to your layout, such as the three oval pieces I have cut and folded in half and put in the bottom left corner and secured them with brads.
  • Center and adhere the completed 9 1/2 x 9 1/2 layout piece to the 12 x 12 patterned paper.
I hope that you enjoyed the layout today.  Don't forget to check out the great deals at ScrapbookPal......along with the free shipping on all orders over $25.

I am entering this into the Apron Strings Designs Birthday Party Day 17 Challenge.

Owl Card And Fun Wall Hanging - SRM Stickers

Good morning!!  Can you tell I have had lots of fun playing with my SRM Stickers??  I have two more projects to share with you today that incorporate them.  The first one is an Owl card that I created for the Etsy Inspired Challenge (sponsored this week by SRM).  The challenge was to go to Dollbirdies shop on Etsy and find something that inspires you and create a card from it.  It wasn't hard to do because I actually thought up many ideas from the lovely passport wallets and bags on there.  This is the card that I decided to make (or the one that jumped out of my head first).  ;)

A little close up of the little bit of detail I added to the owl and branch with a fine tipped stylus and used a little bit of Tim Holtz Distress ink on the edges and the embossed background.....

Here is my inspiration:

Now, I do have a confession to make.....this is the FIRST time I have used my Create A Critter cartridge and I have had it for 9 months ::GASP::  I know.  I know.  That doesn't happen very much with my cartridges, but I absolutely loved the images on this cart when it first came out and I *thought* I would use it all the time for projects with my kids, but this is the first time it has seen use in my Cricut machine.  Well, now that I can see how cute the images are cut out and how easy they were to layer together, you bet I will be using it more often.

SRM Stickers teamed up with Cosmo Cricket this week and so I had the wonderful opportunity to play with the awesome new lines.  I used Social Club on this wall hanging of my cutie kids:

On the SRM Stickers blog, you can go and leave comments on the Cosmo Cricket projects this week for a chance to win some awesome SRM Stickers, so hop on over and check them all out.

Mower Ride

Here is another fun layout of my kiddos when they wanted to "help" daddy mow the lawn.  He hooked up and pulled them around in the mower trailer....something they talk about all the time.  I used sketch challenge #6 at Get Picky for my layout, where SRM Stickers is also a sponsor.  I just love their stickers.....so versatile and they help to complete any layout.  I dug in my HUGE stash and and found this old Apron Strings kit for this layout and this layout is also for the Birthday Party day 12 at the Apron Strings Blog for the 4 strips of paper (along the edges).

      Supplies:
        Cardstock - Bazzill
Patterned paper - Fancy Pants Designs
        Stickers - SRM Stickers
Die cut letters - Cricut Expression with Ashlynn's Alphabet
        Flower: Prima
        Stamps, ink, punches: Stampin' Up!

ETA - I will be submitting this layout to the Scrappy Saturday's with the Bug Challenge #4.

Thanks for visiting and your wonderful comments.

Going Up

Here is a fun layout of my little man just after he got the hang of climbing up onto the big toy at the park.....oh, how little he was then.  ::sigh::   I used the Sketchy Thursday Sketch 3.17 for my layout.  I rotated it 90 degrees to make it work with my pictures.  SRM Stickers is the sponsor this week at Sketchy Thursday, so hurry on over and check it out so you can get in on the chance to win some of these fab stickers, like the ones I used on my layout.  This is an old kit from Apron Strings Designs that I dug out of my stash.  This layout is also for the Apron Strings Birthday Challenge #10 Party on a Page because of the movement and bright happy colors.

      Supplies:
        Cardstock: Bazzill
        Patterned paper: Basic Grey
Stickers: SRM Stickers (sentiments, arrows), Chatterbox (letters for title)
        Pen: Zig
Other: Tattered Angles Glimmer Mist, crochet thread, brads (unknown)

How's Life? - Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger

Happy Sunday everyone!!  I had some time to get this card done today and wanted to share it with you while I am waiting for dinner to be done burn......OOPS!!  I also have a couple of layouts that I have been working on that I will share later this evening.

My card is based on last weeks Tuesday Trigger at Moxie Fab World.  I love the look of the neutral colors with just a touch of turquoise in the Tuesday Trigger picture along with the buttons and cloth, so I tried to mimic the look on my card.

Here is my card:

(I do apologize for the lighting in the picture...it has been really cloudy today)
      Supplies:
        Cardstock: The Paper Company
        Sticker sentiment: SRM Stickers
Ribbon: Stampin' Up! (kraft), Offray (turquoise)
Buttons: Misc from my button jar
        Pen: Zig
Other: fabric, sewing machine and thread

Now, I need to go and get our (slightly burned) dinner on the table......that only happens once in a GREAT while when I get really distracted like I have been today. ;)  I also have a poll on the right side of my blog (near the top) that will let me know how you would like for me to do my HUGE giveaway that is coming up....all one prize or broken down into a few different prizes.  I am almost to the goal of 1000 followers/subscribers and so don't forget to check back soon.

My Little Sunshine

Today is a special day in our house......other than being St. Patrick's Day, it is also the anniversary of when I first became a mom.

Happy Birthday to my Sweet Girl!!

I created this layout of her with the March Smaller Than a Breadbox kit from Apron Strings Designs.
The patterned paper is from Bella Blvd Sunny Happy Skies and the cardstock is Bazzill.  I used my Cricut to cut the title and I hand cut the flowers along the bottom and the hot air balloons from the fab patterned paper in the kit.

I used the scraps from the layout above and a easy-to-use SRM Sticker to quickly make this "Happy Day" card:
So, for our plans today, the birthday girl gets to pick the meal plan and she has chosen to have a game night at home.  I hope that you have a great St. Patrick's Day planned, too.

Thanks for visiting!!

I added some die cut waves to the inside of the tube and then put the make a wish sentiment around the outside.....
      Supplies:
Cardstock, ribbons, scallop circle punch: Stampin' Up!
Die cuts: Cricut with Once Upon A Princess and
          Life's A Beach cartridges

Mojo Monday Sketch 181

Yes, it has been quite a while since I had a chance to participate in a Mojo Monday sketch, but I was really inspired to use my new Nate's ABC cartridge and the current sketch at Mojo Monday.

I just love this snail image......I enlarged the butterfly to make it fit the sketch a little better.
I will add the details for this card later.......

Happy Spring with ScrapbookPal

As I sit here and type with the window open next to me, I am reminded that spring is just around the corner and I can't wait to go out and start working in my garden.  I can hear the water that has melted from the snow as it drips of the back deck, I hear the sweet call of the birds in my back yard, and my kids are all excited to see the (muddy) ground again.  With these thoughts in mind, I thought it would be fun to do a spring themed card for the ScrapbookPal blog with the new Nate's ABC's cartridge that I received from ScrapbookPal this month.

To re-create this card, you will need:
-Cricut machine and Nate's ABC's cartridge
-Patterned paper (mine is We R Memory Keepers)
-Cardstock in various colors to match your patterned paper (I used Stampin' Up!)
-Tombow dual brush pen to match your cardstock and patterned paper
-Sentiment (mine is a SRM Sticker)
-Scissors
-Ribbon
-Button

Let's get started:
-Cut your card base at 11 x 5 1/2 inches and fold in half to make a 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 inch card.
-Cut the circles from the Nate's ABC's cartridge at 4 1/2 inches for the color background and 4 1/4 inches for the white base and layer these two together.  Draw stitches around the white circle with a Tombow dual brush pen.
-Cut the umbrella and boot image from the Nate's ABC's cartridge along with all the layers at 2 3/4 inches.  Add a little ink from the Tombow dual brush pen to add depth if you wish.  Layer the pieces together and adhere to the center of the circle base with dimensional adhesive.
-Cut and adhere 5 x 5 inch piece of patterend paper to the center of the 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 inch card base.
-Tie a ribbon around the patterned paper and card base and finish it off with a bow.
-Adhere the circle with the image over the center of the patterened paper with dimensional adhesive.
-Add a button to the center of the bow and a sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope I have inspred you to get started on some spring themed projects of your own.

When Daddy Comes Home Layout

Wow!!  Where has the last week gone??  I have had a whole lot on my plate and haven't had much time to blog.  I have had design team projects I have been working on, I have decided that I want to get fit....loose a little of this baby weight I have been carrying around for the last 2+ years and also to prepare to run a 5K this year, and we may be preparing for a move sometime in the next few months, so that has been occupying my mind a whole lot.  I wanted to share one of the layouts for Apron Strings Smaller than a Bread Box kit for March.  I made this with the We R Memory Keepers papers in the Smaller kit.  I also used the 3.03 sketch this week at Sketchy Thursdays for the layout.
This layout if of my kids and how glad they are when daddy comes home....when he leaves for work, it can be for several days and they just maul him when he comes in the door.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment.  ♥
