Nature's Beauty - Masculine Card

As you scroll through my blog, you may notice one thing that is lacking....I am talking about masculine cards.  I find them hard to do and I don't have a whole lot of product that works well for males.....at least adult males.  I have a brother, a father, and a husband that I make cards for every year and I struggle with ideas.  When I saw Sketch 162 at CPS, I knew instantly that I wanted to make a masculine card from it and I came up with the idea for this card quickly, but finding time to sit down and make it is another struggle.  After the kids went to bed last night, I sat down and created this card.....
Cardstock, stamps, ink, embossing powder: Stampin' Up!
        Brads: Joann's
        Distress inks: Ranger
        Other: cardboard

On this card, I heat embossed the stamped image with Classy Copper on glossy white cardstock.  I masked where I wanted the moon with a scrap piece of paper cut with a circle punch.  I then used a brayer with three different colors of ink (Sage Shadow, Bordering Blue, Night of Navy) over the image to achieve the blending affect (wipe the ink off of the heat embossed image so that you don't smear the ink on places you don't want it).  I removed the mask and then added a little distress ink to the edges of the image.  I layered the image on Whisper White cardstock with distressed edges (scrape with the edge of some scissors), I stamped the sentiment, and then layered that on Night of Navy cardstock with distressed edges.  I cut a piece of cardboard from a thin cardboard box to 5 1/2 x 4 1/2 inches with a craft knife and my large clear ruler on a self healing mat.  I tore the the corners and distressed with distress inks.  I then cut three strips from Sage Shadow cardstock, distressed the edges and inked them.  I added the brads and adhered them to the cardboard.  I adhered the rest of the pieces and put it on an A2 sized card made from Sage Shadow cardstock.

Tomorrow is that last day to participate in the Caardvarks Baby Card Challenge and the blog hop.  You can check it out HERE on my blog and at the Caardvarks blog.
