3D Wednesday with My Creative Time - Mother's Day

Welcome back!!  It is time for another 3D Wednesday with My Creative Time.  Today we are focusing on special projects for all those moms out there, since Mother's Day is just around the corner.  I used My Creative Time's awesome Rolled Flower Dies to create corsages for the moms (and grandmothers) in my life.

I rolled the flowers in pink and yellow and then filled the centers with some Cream colored Pearl Pens from Viva Decor.  Now I will admit that this wasn't the best idea because it took a whole lot to fill the holes and then it settled and didn't make very pretty pearls.....I had to refill where holes sank into them, but in the end it turned out alright.  I mounted the flowers onto a simple 1 1/2 inch circle and then I tied some pretty pink sheer ribbon and twine to secure to the bottom of the flowers along with a simple cream button.  I added a bar pin to the back so that it can be secured to a shirt.

For presentation, I cut out these fab little boxes with my Cricut and the Baby Shower Event cartridge.  I stamped the boxes with the Spring Chicken background stamps before assembling them.  I also put a little bit of sheer material inside the window (flexible to bend with the box window).  I was thinking that I wanted to get some transparency material for this since my blister packages from my Cricut cartridge is too thick to bend, but I quickly changed my mind when I saw how much those cost.  Not far down the aisle at the office supply store, there were some Binding Covers that worked perfectly for a fraction of the cost.  Now I have a whole package of fun, new material to play with.....I am thinking that next I want to try and cut some clear flowers and maybe even use some alcohol inks with them......how fun!!

I finished off the box with some bakers twine and another rolled flower along with a sentiment from More Gift Card Sentiments from My Creative Time.  So, what do you think??  Are you working on any projects for Mother's Day or have you created something for Mom yet??  I know that I will be receiving some fabulous little hand made cards from my favorite kiddos this year.....they always spoil me with awesome works of art.  =)

If you are looking for inspiration to celebrate mom, hop on over to the My Creative Time blog see what other members of the design team created for Mother's Day.

  8. Great job on your projects...the flower centers did turn out pretty but maybe bought large pearls or gems might have been faster and easier and cheaper...I will keep that in mind not to make too large pearls with the liquids. Your idea for clear flowers with alcohold inks might work great!
